About the exhibition ‘Let there be light’:
For the artist the focus of this project is the issue of human rights and the problem of representation : the dichotomy between photography and violence, suffering and pain. The selection of photographs and films includes works related to the African continent. Jaar analyses, with a considerable regard for his subjects, the role of the media in the transmission of clichés, of spectacularity or victimisation related to social and political events.
