Eduardo Gil: Silhouettes of the disappeared
Yesterday, we had been so busy with other things, that we missed to pay attention to the ´International Day of the Disappeared`. But actually, its an important day to get in mind, that many people disappeared all over the world and nobody knows, what happened to them.
We decided to commemorate all the victims which are disappeared with the work of the Latin-American NEWTOPIA-artist: Eduardo Gil. He´s dealing with the military dictatorship in Argentina and other Latin-American dictatoships in the 70s and 80s. In the 80s, three artists organized a public mass action called ‘El Siluetazo’, where they visualized all the disappeared people in the form of as silhouette-drawings. Eduardo Gil documented that protest. Allthough it is world famous, his work has never shown in europe, till now.
