Part of an interview with the artist Marina Naprushkina (Belarus) on the occasion of the presentation of the group exhibition “Newtopia: The State of Human Rights” in Berlin on the 25th of April, 2012. Marina Naprushkina’s work is also shown at the 7th Berlin Biennial which will be open for the public from the 27th of April.
“Newtopia: The State of Human Rights” is a major international contemporary art exhibition in Mechelen and Brussels (Belgium) dedicated to human rights. Newtopia will examine a rich variety fo artistic responses in relation to the diverse tenets of human rights and will present work by over 70 internationally acclaimed and emerging artists from more than 30 countries, of different generations working in diverse media. Many of these artists come from geographies where human rights are a particularly contested issue, such as the Arab world.
